There are currently nearly half a million drug offenders incarcerated in US jails, more than the entire EU prison population. Added to the financial consequences of current drug policy there is the enormous human cost. Police corruption, organized crime, contempt for the law massachusetts drug law and drugs made dangerous because they are illegal massachusetts drug law and thus not subject to proper controls are other consequences of current drug policies. Politicians from all sides of the political spectrum are now beginning to ask: is it worth it? In this trenchantly argued book both students massachusetts drug law and the general public will find a clear statement of the case for the decriminalization of recreational drugs. For instance, more than half of high school seniors take drugs, yet the US is not overrun with drug-crazed addicts. Indeed, psychological tests show that adults who have experimented with drugs but are not addicts are better adjusted than either abstainers or heavy users. Horror stories of the dangers of drug use abound, but the truth is more prosaic; although recreational drugs are sometimes bad for users, there are between 80 massachusetts drug law and 90 million US citizens who have used illicit drugs without ill effects. Grass (DVD)

Grass (DVD)
Using snappy, comic book-like graphics, great newsreel massachusetts drug law and film footage, stills, massachusetts drug law and music, GRASS chronicles the history of the American government's relationship with marijuana massachusetts drug law and marijuana users. A slick, entertaining, witty documentary narrated by known grass activist Woody Harrelson, the film is a fast-paced, coherent (if somewhat biased) illustration of the absurdity of drug laws massachusetts drug law and the untruthful coercion tactics massachusetts drug law and propaganda campaigns the government has used since the 1900s to convince the public that pot causes everything from insanity massachusetts drug law and murder to rape massachusetts drug law and Communism. The film tells how marijuana was traded by migrant workers over the Mexican border in the early 1900s, massachusetts drug law and how laws passed to control the drug were also used to control immigrants. Soon, a series of truths were set loose on the public by the government to deter people from using grass (shown in the film as hilarious, but true, headlines deemed The Official Truth: If you smoke it, you will kill people! and, If you smoke it, you will go insane!) More importantly, perhaps, is the film's examination of how drug laws massachusetts drug law and the drug war were first formed. Rather than passing the problem of drug addiction on to the Health Department, it was relegated to the Treasury Department, which formed the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, which imposed taxes on marijuana instead of implementing rehabilitation programs for users of the more serious heroine massachusetts drug law and cocaine.
